Astralis qualified for ESL One New York after defeating FaZe 2-0 in the grand final of the European qualifier (16-10 on Mirage and 16-5 on Train). The first six spots at the $250,000 event taking place in New York, USA were handed out via invitations and ESL later announced a European and a North American qualifier to determine the last two teams that would join the others at the Barclays Center. FaZe started the closed eight-team European qualifier against GODSENT who they beat 2-1, going on to eliminate mousesports 2-0 in the semi-final. Astralis, on the other hand, got victories over their Danish brethren from dignitas, and the Frenchmen of EnVyUs to advance to the grand final.

Astralis manage to book their tickets to New York Peter “dupreeh” Rasmussen and Markus “Kjaerbye” Kjærbye put on exquisite performances on Mirage—the first map in the best-of-three series—as the duo posted 1.59 and 1.41 ratings, respectively, to lead Astralis to a 16-10 victory. Astralis closed out Train 16-5 after a strong CT-side, taking the series 2-0 and qualifying for the contest taking place in the Big Apple.
