Since the departure of Finn “karrigan” Andersen, Astralis has looked like a new team. And in an AMA on Reddit Tuesday, Peter “dupreeh” Rothmann said that the arrival of Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander helped the team find their identity again. Asked about how they rose through the ranks in the aftermath of that roster move, dupreeh said that it wasn’t necessarily that karrigan’s calls were bad, but that the team had stopped supporting them fully. “It’s a tough reality, but we gave up on Karrigan’s way of calling. It’s not mainly his fault, it’s also ours. We stopped believing in his calls, we hesitated and always felt we wouldn’t win, and we couldn’t overcome that obstacle, so we had to make a change,” he wrote. “Gla1ve is a great caller, and he brings a lot of variation to our game, which we needed. But the key thing he brought, was faith. We started believing in each other again and we started to believe in victories.” He also spoke about his time on the bench during ESL One Cologne 2016, when he was sidelined with appendicitis and forced to watch the event instead of play in it. Using coach Danny “zonic” Sørensen as a stand-in, his team walked in to the stadium holding his jersey. “Even though I couldn’t do anything, I really felt like I let my team down in every possible way. We had struggles as a team, especially with a stand-in, and now we had to use zonic too,” he recalled. “It was hard for me to watch, especially when we were losing, but the guys played their hearts out and they won. I cried a lot that day. Of happiness. The jersey-walk-in was very moving. I was really happy. It was a great sign of great friendship.” Dupreeh also addressed lighter topics, including his pre-game warmup ritual that involves drinking lots of coffee and jumping around on an empty server to warm up his mouse hand. Asked about what his life after CS:GO might look like, Dupreeh shot down any hope of a future Hearthstone career and said that he was “very much into aviation” and would look to become a commercial pilot after his career in esports ends — “if it ever will.” [hkes_show_google_ad]
