Ex Invictus Gaming jungler retires

Esports Asia News

Ex-Invictus Gaming jungler and jungler for League of Legends Secondary Pro League team, Young Glory, Chen “illuSion” Xinlin, announced his retirement on Weibo. illuSion, one of the most well-remembered Chinese pros from the pre-LCS era of League of Legends, began playing for Invictus Gaming in November of 2011. He played with the team until the start of 2015 when he was replaced by Lee “KaKAO” Byungkwon. At that time, he started jungling for Invictus Gaming’s LSPL sister team, Young Glory. In the conclusion of 2016 LSPL Spring, Young Glory was relegated from the league after placing 15th in the regular season. In his post, illuSion apologized for not bringing Invictus Gaming greater glory when he jungled for them, for not helping Young Glory to join the League of Legends Pro League, to fans who he has continuously let down and to himself for not being able to give himself a perfect end to his career. In his reflection, illuSion thanked Invictus Gaming for being the first and only organization he played for in five years of his career. He said he kept trying to play because he truly loved the game, but now has grown discouraged and hasn’t been able to motivate himself since the LSPL relegation. During his time with Invictus Gaming in Season 2, the team was noted for performing well against Korean teams at various online events. In particular, they’re remembered for ending Team WE’s series win streak in GIGABYTE StarsWar League Season 2 and winning the event. To close his statement, illuSion said he never regretted choosing to become a pro gamer, and he hopes those who walk the same road can achieve their dreams. “Though my journey on this road has completed,” illuSion said, “my heart still continues to dream of gaming.”   [Source: TheScore Esports]
