Faker: “The Flash Wolves seem like a strong competitor.”

Esports Asia News

The Flash Wolves are back on SK Telecom T1’s radar for an international tournament. Before boarding his flight to Brazil to compete for this year’s Mid Season Invitational, Lee “Faker” Sang-hyeok said that he was looking forward to facing the Taiwanese team again in an interview with Daily eSports’ Nam Yun-seong. “From the perspective of a team in the challenging position to win MSI two times in a row, the Flash Wolves seem like a strong competitor,” he said. “I know many fans think that our team is very likely to win, but I will begin from uncertainty, and will increase our likelihood of taking the tournament by winning each match on the way.” The Flash Wolves and SKT have an interesting history that has become one of the League of Legends community’s fabled memes. For all SKT’s worldwide dominance, the Flash Wolves have repeatedly gotten the better of Faker’s team. Of the four bouts against SKT, the Wolves won three. Flash Wolves beat SKT twice at last year’s MSI and again in the group stage of the League of Legends World Championship before SKT finally earned a win back. MSI also has a special place in Faker’s heart, mostly for it’s timing. Sunday is his birthday, and for the last two years at MSI he heard the crowd sing “Happy Birthday” while he’s on stage. But there will be no games on Sunday, meaning no birthday song for the world’s best player. “It was disappointing to see that this year I won’t be playing on my birthday the 7th,” he said
