[hkes_show_google_ad] Challenger team Gold Coin United have signed former Phoenix1 AD carry Brandon “Mash” Phan as an “in-house substitute,” the organization announced via ESPN’s Jacob Wolf on Saturday. Speaking to ESPN, Gold Coin’s head coach Yoonsup “Locodoco” Choi said that Mash will be sharing scrims with the team’s starting AD carry, Samuel “Rikara” Oh, though it’s unclear if Mash is set to start in a game during the 2017 EU CS Spring Split. “We still have full trust in Rikara that he’ll be a great ADC at the end of this year, but with [the League Championship Series] promotion match coming up soon, we want to take pressure off of Rikara to allow him to develop further and Mash adds another strong voice to the team,” Locodoco told ESPN. “I’m excited to work with him, and I know both ADs will help each other develop further.” GCU purchased NRG Esports’ spot in the Challenger Series in December, and went on to sign Colin “Solo” Earnest, Lucas “Santorin” Laresen, Kim “FeniX” Jae-hun, Rikara and Hong “MadLife” Min-gi later that month.
