Esports Asia News

[hkes_show_google_ad] Spencer “Hiko” Martin has parted ways with Team Liquid and will serve as a stand-in for OpTic Gaming “through DreamHack Vegas.” While Hiko says that he will play for OpTic through DreamHack Masters Las Vegas “at the least,” the duration of his contract was not announced. The news closely follows Liquid’s acquisition of OpTic’s former in-game leader Peter “Stanislaw” Jarguz. The news also comes after Hiko and well-known Brazilian coach Luis “peacemaker” Tadeu were listed on ESL Pro League’s website and was initially reported by Slingshot Esports’ Jarek “DeKay” Lewis on Feb. 1. Hiko has been with Liquid since September 2015 and was part of the roster that took a Top 4 finish at the MLG Major Championship: Columbus Major, as well as a Grand Final appearance at ESL One Cologne 2016 Major. More recently, Hiko competed in the ELEAGUE Major 2017 with Liquid, but were eliminated from the group staged. He averaged an 0.81 HLTV player rating averaged across five maps. OpTic Gaming’s roster now looks as follows:
  • Keith “NAF” Markovic
  • Will “RUSH” Wierzba
  • Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas
  • Tarik “tarik” Celik
  • Spencer “Hiko” Martin (stand-in)
