SK Telecom T1’s Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon didn’t read too much into the comments made by Team SoloMid’s Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell about Korean top laners. Before SKT’s departure to Brazil in order to compete in the Mid-Season Invitational, Huni said in an interview with Daily eSports Nam Yoon-sung that Hauntzer’s comments weren’t meant to insult anybody. “Given the context of the interview, I understand that he didn’t insult Korean top laners,” he said. “There was an article saying that ‘When going up against Cloud9’s two Korean top laners, TSM will collapse,’ beforehand, and I expect he said that Korean top laners were ‘overrated’ in a way to show that he has survived such competition.” Hauntzer, TSM’s top laner, said after TSM won the North American League Championship Series spring split that the Korean imports were overrated. Haunzter said that after a full season of playing against them, he came to the conclusion that “they’re not as good as the fans say they are,” and said that “it was just kind of playing against mediocre opponents.” Huni further said that he knew Hauntzer’s play style from playing against TSM when he was with Immortals. He said even though Hauntzer “performed very well” during TSM’s match against Vietnam’s Gigabyte Marines in Round 2 of MSI, he “hasn’t been able to move outside the tanker meta,” based on what Huni saw of the play-in stage. This will mark Huni’s second venture into MSI, but with a different jersey, as he was a part of the European team Fnatic in 2015, and now plays for SKT. Huni described it as a “new feeling,” given his circumstances, and said that he wanted to “contribute to SKT’s second MSI victory.”
