[hkes_show_google_ad] SK Telecom T1 continues to be the top contender at this year’s LCK, narrowly defeating Longzhu Gaming 2-1 and earning their 14th win of the season. On a day where kt Rolster lost a massive Set 2 lead and the match to MVP, SKT is now 3 games ahead of the second place LCK team, Samsung Galaxy. With kt Rolster dropping to 3rd place and SKT now one win away from clinching a bye to the finals, the highly-anticipated Telecom finals seems anything but a guarantee. After the match, SKT’s mid laner Faker shared his thoughts on the current meta, the success of SKT, and the competitive landscape of the LCK.
Q: What are your thoughts on winning a hard-fought series? A: We won, but it was a bit harder than expected. We’ll have to fix our flaws before the next game, but it feels good to win.
Q: You are 1 win away from getting a bye to the finals. Any comments? A: I don’t think we’ve often booked a ticket to the finals this early in the season. It feels great, but there is still a win to go, so we’ll need to come prepared. And we’ll have to win in the finals, so we’ll prepare for the other teams and practice diligently.
Q: SKT has sometimes struggled in the spring season. Is there a reason why you guys are so strong this time around? A: I think it has to do with Peanut joining the team. I think the old ROX Tigers handed down their energy onto us.
Q: What were the deciding factors to your win? What were you guys doing better, in general? A: In general, the small mistakes decided the match. The problem accentuated since both teams strive for stability in their games.
Q: Lucian has appeared quite often. The bottom lane meta seems to have shifted. Any comments? A: I don’t it’s necessary Lucian. I think a lot of damage-dealing ADC’s are appearing these days, and I think Lucian is just a part of that. I think a lot of different picks will be showing up from now on (at ADC).
Q: The Orianna and Vladimir match-up seems to appear pretty often at mid lane. Can you explain this match-up in detail? A: If it’s 1v1, Orianna is slightly at an advantage. But Vladimir is looking for 2v2’s or the late game team fights. Nowadays, Orianna seems to have a slightly more balanced game, so I prefer her over others.
Q: How are the assassins? Any chance of them appearing in a game? A: I think there’s a definite chance of them appearing, but the counter plays against assassins seem to have improved nowadays. I don’t think you’ll see too much of them.
Q: Which team do you think will be in the finals? A: I used to think kt Rolster might be the ones to make the finals. But I’m not so sure nowadays, since so many teams are playing well.
Q: The video of you saying, “I got him,” has gotten a lot of attention. Are there any other stories involving this incident? A: I don’t think it was all that impressive..
