Veteran support Raymond “KaSing” Tsang is in contract negotiations with new Challenger Series team Gold Coin United, theScore esports has learned from multiple sources close to the player and team. Though KaSing has not yet signed with Gold Coin, talks between the British player and the NA team are expected to conclude this week. The support position is the only remaining vacancy on Gold Coin’s roster after they announced the acquisition of top laner Colin “Solo” Earnest, jungler Lucas “Santorin” Larssen, mid laner Kim “FeniX” Jae-hun, AD Carry Richard “Rikara” Samuel Oh, and head coach Choi “Locodoco” Yoon-sub on Dec. 15. The team, which is backed by J2K Esports and Technology, purchased NRG eSports’ spot in the NA Challenger Series earlier this month. According to an interview with Locodoco ahead of Gold Coin’s roster announcement, the team intended to field two Korean players in the Spring 2017 Challenger Series. However, currently FeniX is the only Korean signed to the team, leaving one import slot open. It’s not clear if Gold Coin were unable to find a Korean support, or if they had one lined up but negotiations fell through. KaSing first gained notoriety with Supa Hot Crew, then moved on to H2k-Gaming, with whom he attended the 2015 World Championship. He tried out with Team SoloMid at IEM San Jose 2015, where the team made the semifinals. In the past year, KaSing has played for Team Vitality, who made playoffs in the 2016 EU LCS Spring Split but only secured seventh place in the Summer Split. The team recently signed former KT Rolster support player Ha “Hachani” Seung-chan for the 2017 season. According to LCS insiders, KaSing tried out with several European teams this offseason, but was not able to reach an agreement.

Gold Coin co-owner and general manager Jake Kuhn has said that the team’s goal is to make the LCS in their first season. They will join Delta Fox, Big Gods.NA, eUnited, Tempo Storm and Team Gates in the 2017 NA CS Spring Split. All six teams will be playing in Challenger for the first time.
