[hkes_show_google_ad] Kongdoo Monster’s head coach couldn’t have offered a larger appreciation than he did during Sunday’s post-game interview. Kongdoo, the last place team in League Champions Korea, did the unthinkable by defeating KT Rolster 2-1 on Sunday. In a live phone interview with OGN castes Lee “CloudTemplar” Hyun-woo, Kim Dong-jun, and Kim “Dangun” Eui-joong, head coach Choi “MC” Min-chul had high praise for returning coach Lee “Zefa” Jae-min. “Zefa stepped in to hammer out the details from vision control and proper management,” he said. “He instilled a lot of faith to the team, and I think we work very well together. As I spent the past couple of days, I realized that it was tough because we didn’t have a coach. I don’t know what the other teams are like, but I knew our coach is great. The players played very well, but I want to dedicate this victory to the coach.” Zefa’s return to the team after battling cancer was timely, as it seemed the team as a whole had life breathed into it against one of the best in the LCK. MC said Zefa’s expertise as a former player was needed for the victory, pointing out his ability to understand “the small details and problems of the players” and offer good feed back. With Kongdoo still being in last place, MC was more optimistic for the future. With the return of a coach and a victory under its belt, Kongdoo will enter the upcoming promotional tournament with more confidence. “I honestly think that this season was a great experience, even though it was difficult,” he said. “I experienced defeat with the players working with them by myself, and this is bad on paper, but I think all failure is a platform for future success. With the coach joining us, I think we only need to think about winning now. We’ll be heading into the promotional tournament, but we’ll work together to make it back to the regular season with full victories.” [hkes_show_google_ad]
