KT Rolster coach Lee Ji-Hoon gave some insight into his team’s motivations for the League Champions Korea spring playoffs. After KT exacted revenge on MVP — which defeated KT twice during the regular season — in Tuesday’s 3-0 win in the second round of the LCK playoffs, Lee said in the post-match caster intervieight that vengeance motivated his team for the playoffs. “The overall mentality for the playoffs was payback,” he said. “We needed to beat MVP, who beat us twice, and now Samsung Galaxy, who took so much away from us last year. This team, I think it’s time for us to take it back.” Samsung Galaxy, whom KT will play in Saturday’s semifinal, defeated KT Rolster in last year’s regional gauntlet after trailing 2-1 to reach the League of Legends World Championship and prevent KT Rolster from getting there. As a humorous aside in the post-match interview with Lee and jungler Go “Score” Dong-bin, the coach said he almost lashed out against top laner Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho for playing Camille in Game 3. “I almost hit Smeb [for picking Camille],” he said, laughing. “We have heard that (we) have trouble with ‘anger management’ when we lose games to a comeback. We need to keep that tendency in check. Mata (Cho Se-hyeong) loves to fight, but he’s been keeping himself mostly in check. I told Smeb before I left the booth to not over-do it. I guess we were ahead at that point, and Smeb has a strong sense of showmanship, but he also has a tendency to troll. He wants to win in a showy manner with good plays, and having someone like that is good for the team. Of course if we lost the game Smeb would have been the saboteur of the team.”
