CSGO: LDLC shuts down
The LDLC organisation have announced that they have dropped support for both their White and Blue rosters after fielding both teams for approximately a year. The LDLC brand name stands out to many as being the organisation which supported a team featuring the likes of
Vincent “Happy” Schopenhauer and
Richard “shox” Papillon in 2014 (and slightly into 2015 at MLG X Games Aspen); the team masquerading under this name won the DreamHack Winter 2014 Major and numerous other events and was considered an elite contender. Following the loss of this team to EnVyUs, LDLC decided to sign two separate Francophone teams—
Platinium and
Awsomniac—that went under the names of
LDLC White and
LDLC Blue respectively. Both teams had their moments in the sun in the following months, with LDLC White
winning ESWC France and attending ESWC 2015 (where the team bombed out in groups) and LDLC Blue
defeating their brethren at the ESWC PGW Open later in the year. 2016 was a mixed bag for both teams in terms of offline showings: LDLC White were wiped out at the PGL Minor (7-8th place) and Acer Predator Masters Season 2 finals (7-8th place). However,
LDLC White did manage to win Assembly Winter 2016 (and LDLC Blue survived groups and finished in 3-4th place) and the latter team also
finished in second place at the regional Gamers Assembly 2016 event behind
Millenium. Following this mixed series of results, and the equally damaging fact that two of the LDLC White players were poached by the two biggest teams in the region recently (
Timothée “DEVIL” Démolon by
EnVyUs and
Alexandre “bodyy” Pianaro by
G2), the LDLC organisation
have now announced that their support for the teams is effectively over. [Source: hltv]
