[hkes_show_google_ad] Riot Games’s copyright lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California against cheat developer Leaguesharp has ended in a $10 million settlement in favor of Riot Games. The complaint, filed in August 2016, named Leaguesharp developer Matthias Oltmann, administrator Stefan Delgado Argote, administrator Tyrone “Tom” Pauer and a Peruvian company named Chachani Misti y Pichu Pichu as defendants. The initial complaint alleged that the production and sale of hacking and botting software by Leaguesharp, who charged a monthly subscription fee to users and supplied them with hacks for League of Legends, infringed on “Riot’s copyrights, patents, or trademarks” by undermining their ability “to ensure a consistently engaging and compelling gaming experience for players.” It also claimed that the distribution and use of these tools violated the game’s terms of use. The settlement further forces Leaguesharp to cease and desist the sale, development, and distribution of its software and turn over all the associated source code and website domains to Riot. A spokesperson for Riot Games declined to comment on the settlement. [hkes_show_google_ad]
