MVP’s ADD found inspiration for Jarvan IV pick from community forum

MVP top laner Kang “ADD” Gun-mo gave credit to a random poster on a community website as the reason behind ADD playing Jarvan IV in the League Champions Korea playoffs. MVP defeated the Afreeca Freecs 2-0 Friday to advance to play KT Rolster on Tuesday in the second round of the LCK playoffs. With MVP showing its usual tendency to play unexpected picks, ADD turned in a commanding performance as Jarvan IV in both games. In an interview with Daily eSports’ Nam Yun-seong, he said it still “didn’t hit [him]” that they won with such a “weird champion.” When asked why he started practicing Jarvan, ADD said that we was looking closely into community posts (though he did not specify which one) until he came across one post that showed how strong it was in the North American server. ADD then studied the video and thought it was a solid pick. “During practice I would always win against Nautilus in the top lane when I played Jarvan, but MaRin (Jang Gyeong-hwan) was very strong,” he said. “It’s still rather murky to call Jarvan the counter to Nautilus, but he’s can definitely win against Nautilus.” When asked what players need to do to play Jarvan well, ADD joked that the secret is to “not play him at all,” and added that he thinks he won because no one else had played it and that he will “abandon the pick as soon as anyone else plays it.”
