NRG signs Amaz to lead their Hearthstone division

Esports Asia News
NRG eSports have entered Hearthstone by signing one of the scene’s most popular personalities, Jason “Amaz” Chan. “After talking to Andy Miller (co-owner of NRG), I found out that we have a lot in common,” Amaz stated in a press release. “He expressed interest in the projects I’m pursuing in Hearthstone, and it’s always nice to have someone who can relate. NRG has been accomplishing a lot in the eSports scene, and I always loved supporting passionate teams in this community — that’s why I love hosting Hearthstone tournaments so much.” In addition to being a popular streamer, Amaz has competed in Hearthstone tournaments in the past, and was a co-founder of Team Archon. Amaz has previously played for ROOT Gaming and Team Liquid, though he hasn’t competed in a tournament since December 2015, when he placed in the Top 6 of the SL i-League StarSeries Qualifier with a 3-1 record in the Group Stage. Amaz later dropped out of the tournament, with StarLadder stating on Twitter that he “refused” to attend the tournament. “He is such a big, fun personality that we thought he would fit in great with the NRG vibe,” NRG chairman Andy Miller told theScore esports. Miller also said that Amaz was signed as both a streamer and competitor. The future of Team Archon is currently unclear. Over the past few months, the team has lost most of its pro players, with only William “Amnesiac” Barton still signed to the team. On-stream, Amaz said that there is an announcement coming about the future of Archon, and that he is “not supposed to say anything yet.”
