Origen relegated from EU LCS

Esports Asia News

Origen have been relegated from the EU LCS after losing 3-0 to Giants Gaming in the 2016 Summer EU LCS Promotion Tournament. This exit sees the organization go full circle, as the team first entered the EU LCS in Summer 2015 after a dominant run in the 2015 EU CS Spring Split. Following their entry into the EU LCS, the team qualified for the Season 5 World Championship before falling into a state of mediocrity that eventually led to their relegation from Europe’s top League of Legends league.

The match itself was very one-sided, as Origen were unable to keep up with Giants from the get go. Enrique “xPeke” Martínez himself struggled immensely, posting a 2/15/13 scoreline across the series in his offrole support position.

Origen was founded by xPeke after his departure from Fnatic in December 2014. The team made quick work of EU’s challenger scene before securing their place in the LCS, where they played for five. The team’s initial roster included high-profile names like ADC Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen and support Alfonso “Mithy” Rodríguez.
