PENTA Sports have been banned from SL i-League StarSeries after forfeiting their match against Team Kinguin on Wednesday. PENTA were due to face Kinguin in their final group match in the European Season 2 qualifier but decided against playing it as they would not be able to advance to the playoffs, regardless of the outcome. This is a violation of StarLadder’s rules, which state that teams will face severe penalties in case they refuse to play all of their matches. PENTA face SL i-League StarSeries ban Contacted by HLTV.org, a StarLadder official stated that PENTA will not be invited “for sure for next season” of StarSeries, but the exact length of the ban, which will be extended to any other team with players from the lineup, has not yet been determined. Kevin “kRYSTAL” Amend’s team can still secure a spot in the following season of StarSeries, but they will have to qualify from the Amateur division. The news comes as a serious blow to PENTA, who completed their lineup just two weeks ago with the addition of Spanish veteran David “Kairi” de Miguel following the departure of Johannes “tabseN” Wodarz to NRG.
