ROX Tigers release Mickey midway through LCK split

Esports Asia News
The ROX Tigers released Son “Mickey” Young-min at the midway point of the League Champions Korea (LCK) summer split. ROX announced Wednesday through Facebook it decided to let go of Mickey, the team’s starting mid laner. The announcement reads that it was a decision that “came after long discussions with the team and many reviews,” regarding the future of the team as a whole. The decision left many fans miffed, as the reason for Mickey’s departure seems unclear. The announcement doesn’t offer any concrete reasoning behind the outcome. Mickey himself talked in recent streams with (now former) about where the next match would be. The move surely comes as a shock. ROX’s actions leave a number of questions and concerns, as according to Riot Games’ global contract database, Mickey’s contract was not finished until November, so it will be interesting to see if Mickey gets transferred to any other team. Mickey debuted as a part of Rebels Anarchy and was a part of the roster until that team changed its name to the Afreeca Freecs. After the 2016 season, he moved to the Tigers with Gwon “Sangyoon” Sang-yoon, Yoon “SeongHwan” Seong-hwan and Heo “Lindarang” Man-heung. ROX sits with a record of 2-6 and looks unlikely to make a playoff berth.
