Samsung Galaxy finally broke their 19-game losing streak against KT Rolster Saturday, qualifying for the 2016 World Championship . Until today’s 3-2 victory, Samsung had not won a single game against KT since the sister team merger and inception of LoL Champions Korea. Like their recent series against the Afreeca Freecs, Samsung relied on strong performances from jungler Kang “Ambition” Chan-yong and mid laner Lee “Crown” Min-ho. With the popular pool of jungle champions banned or picked away, Ambition hopped on Skarner in Game 4 and delivered a strong 4/0/3 performance that meshed perfectly with Crown’s Taliyah. AD Carry Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk and top laner Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin also stepped up throughout their gauntlet run. CuVee bested KT top laner Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho multiple times throughout the series and Ruler had strong performances on Jhin and Sivir. “After CJ when I came to Samsung, my goal was to go to the World Championship,” Ambition said after the win, “I feel like it’s a miracle for us.” Most surprising has been the gauntlet performance of AD-carry-turned-support Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in, whose appearances in the regular season over starting support Kwon “Wraith” Ji-min led to Samsung looking lost and uncoordinated. These team dynamic issues vanished during the regional qualifier, and CoreJJ had fantastic showings on Tahm Kench. Samsung joins the ROX Tigers and SK Telecom T1 as Korea’s three World Championship representatives.
