SKT Bang on seeing the SKT skins

Esports Asia News
Adapted from Slingshot Esports SK Telecom T1 AD Carry Bae “Bang” Jun-sik sure seems pleased with the League of Legends World Championship skins Riot Games recently teased to fans. After SKT’s 2-0 win Saturday against Ever8 Winners, Bang and Kang “Blank” Sun-gu were invited to the post-match interview with OGN casters Lee “CloudTemplar” Hyun-woo and Kim “Dangun” Ui-joong as the MVPs of the match. The two players spent a good amount of time talking about the new SKT championship skins, which Riot Games teased Friday through a YouTube video. Bang and Blank chose Jhin and Zac, respectively, for their champions, and the video showed just how much detail the skin team wanted to reflect the players’ ideas. Blank and Bang both voiced their satisfaction for the skins from what they’ve seen, with Blank saying that the skins were indeed of “high quality.” Bang in particular had more descriptive praise. “I’m very thankful to the Riot’s skin designers, and it almost felt like they were giving me motivation to keep playing well, almost like I’m being rewarded,” he said. “I felt happier than I did when I won worlds. The record of us winning 2016’s worlds will remain as careers, but now it’ll exist in-game as well. The quality of the skins are also so high, so I hope the fans buy them.” The skin set will also feature a ward skin designed after SKT’s coach, Kim “kkOma” Jung-gyun, wearing a headset with his iconic notepad in hand. Bang said the players were able to see the skins about two months in advance, and the coach was also very happy with what he’s seen so far. “Someone from Riot told us about two months ago that the skins will roughly look like this, and that they made a ward skin for kkOma,” he said. “The coach said that he thinks the ward skin will sell the best because it’s one of a kind. He was very happy. When the skins sell well, it’s good for all of us because we all get an equal share as a team. They mean a lot so I hope fans buy them.” In a separate video interview with Daily eSports, Bang gave more detail as to what kind of recall animation Jhin will have with the championship skin, and how he had to dance it out himself against his better judgement. “Since my nickname is Bang, the KPOP band Big Bang has ‘Bang’ in it, and the song is also ‘Bang Bang Bang,’ so it popped in my head,” he said. “I thought it would be a good fit so I asked them to put the animation in, but they did tell me I had to dance it out myself. I did dance and I told them base it on the music video more than anything. It turned out really great.”
