Splyce part ways with YamatoCannon

Splyce have parted ways with head coach Jakob “YamatoCannon” Mebdi, the team announced in a YouTube video Monday. “Jakob ‘YamatoCannon’ Mebdi will no longer be with Splyce. A mutual parting agreed upon between the players, the coach, management that it wasn’t working,” Splyce CEO Marty “Lazerchickenzzz” Strenczewilk said in the team’s YouTube video. “We kind of have hit a plataeu, I think, in our development.” The news follows Splyce’s underwhelming performance in the 2017 EU LCS Spring Playoffs, where they lost 3-2 to Misfits in the quarterfinals. YamatoCannon has been Splyce’s head coach since January 2016 and helped lead the team to the 2016 League of Legends World Championships. “I’ve loved working with Jacob up to this point, I think he’s done a lot of great stuff for our organization. He built Splyce League of Legends to what it is today and really I don’t think you’ll find a player who’d come through our organization that can say anything other than, he’s helped them become a better player,” Lazerchickenzzz said. “That said, his style of coaching and playstyle has gotten to a point where it’s no longer facilitating growth with the new organization and that’s important to us, that we continue to grow and get better.” Splyce will give an update on their coaching situation “very shortly.”
