[hkes_show_google_ad] There will be no newcomers in the 2017 NA LCS Summer Season, as both Team Liquid and Team EnVyUs have advanced through the summer promotion tournament to return to the NA LCS. As the bottom two teams in the Spring Season, Liquid and nV faced off against Challenger Series teams eUnited and Gold Coin United. eUnited was swiftly eliminated, losing to Liquid and then to nV in two successive 3-1 series. GCU came within one game of advancing to the NA LCS, but similarly lost to Liquid and nV in two 3-2 series. Liquid began the Spring Season with high hopes, but quickly fell to the bottom of the standings. The team would ultimately recruit inactive Team SoloMid AD Carry Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng at the beginning of March in an attempt to stop their losing streak, but Liquid would ultimately finish the season in ninth place. nV fared little better, as they did not win a single series since their Week 6 victory over Immortals, finishing the season with a 3-13 record.
