TSM signs Relyks

Esports Asia News
Team SoloMid have found their fifth player by signing Skyler ‘Relyks’ Weaver, who left Selfless Gaming earlier this week and was widely expected to link up with his new team. TSM’s shift towards focusing on a North American team at the beginning of the year looked like a gamble to many considering the marquee organisation’s previous Danish lineup (the current Astralis) but Kory “SEMPHIS” Friesen and his teammates finally appeared to be making headway with strong maps in their ELEAGUE group and a 3-4th place finish at the ECS Season 1 Finals in early summer. However, TSM’s chances at consistency took a dent during the August season of roster shifts, which saw Timothy “autimatic” Ta leave to Cloud9 and only four active players on the roster. To fill the gap, the team announced they would be using Justin “just9n” Ortiz (formerly of NRG) as a stand-in. Relyks will don the TSM jersey for future events However, this week threw up an unexpected shift as 21-year-old Skyler “Relyks” Weaver stepped down from Selfless and the player was widely linked with a move to TSM by many in the community. Those speculations have now become true as TSM have announced the signing of Weaver as a permanent fifth for their team. The statement mentions that the team had been in talks with the player during Ta’s departure but only finalised the contract last night. With the announcement that Weaver would be on his way to the team house to begin practicing, the player also spoke a few words on joining his new team:
“I’ve been a fan of TSM since the original LoL roster with Chaox, TheOddOne years ago so it’s pretty awesome that I get the chance to represent such an awesome brand. I think there’s a good mix of young talent and experience on the team and I think I’ll fit in pretty easily. I’m excited to get to work and see what we can do!”
The team will have their offline debut at the upcoming $100,000 Northern Arena which takes place from September 1-4 in Toronto, Canada. TSM’s lineup is now:
Kory “SEMPHIS” Friesen Pujan “FNS” Mehta Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken Hunter “SicK” Mims Skyler “Relyks” Weaver Soham “valens” Chowdhury (coach)
