Jacob “YamatoCannon” Mebdi has joined Team Vitality after mutually parting with Splyce ways earlier in the offseason. The move comes as Team Vitality looks to shake up their roster and become competitive in the 2017 EU LCS Summer Split. Vitality went through many changes during the spring, including moving their old head coach Kévin “Shaunz” Ghanbarzadeh away from the role, and losing Ha “Hachani” Seung-chan as he returned briefly to Korea. They finished second-last in their group with a 3-10 series record and avoided relegation thanks to Origen’s abysmal season. YamatoCannon has had mixed competitive success with the Splyce roster, originally leading the team to an eighth-place finish in their first split. Following that, however, Splyce catapulted themselves to second place in the 2016 EU LCS Summer Split and qualified for the 2016 World Championship through a 3-2 Regional Qualifier victory over Unicorns of Love. This experience was rocky for them, as they ended in last place in their group with a 1-5 record. With this, Vitality continues its own moves for this season, as ESPN reported a departure of Lee “GBM” Chang-seok from the squad. Splyce has yet to announce a replacement for YamatoCannon, and according to the Riot roster database has retained the rest of their roster until Novermber 20, 2017.
